Hair Bonnets

Bonnets cause your hair to retain excessive water. This process can cause hair fungus and hair loss. Clients with new locs, should avoid hair coverings for the first year.

Extensions

If you are adding extensions to your existing locs or loose hair, always use virgin, unprocessed hair for attachments. Extensions using synthetic hair create breakage and in some cases, allergic reactions. Vanity retails virgin hair in our online store. See the product section.

Itchy Scalp

An itchy scalp can cause dandruff and Seborrheic Dermatitis (SD). These conditions may differ in terms of severity and location but are essentially part of the same disease.

Dandruff is a minor condition that only affects the scalp; SD is slightly more severe and not only affects the scalp but other parts of the body too. They occur when there is an inflammation of yeast overgrowth (malassezia) and the body responds with scalp itching and flaking.

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease that can lead to itchy scalp symptoms, as well as reddish, scaly patches of skin on the scalp and other parts of the body. It is hereditary and can worsen if left untreated. See a Dermatologist.
